"BILLY BEAN is a 6,0, 185-pound junior outfielder from Loyola University in Los Angeles.  The switch hitter was the leading hitter this spring in the West Coast Athletic Conference with a .451 mark and over-all he hit .413 with 54 runs batted in and stole 11 bases in 12 tries.  In 1984 he hit .338 for the Lions.  He was Orange County Player of the Year in football at Santa Ana High School and was an all-California Interscholastic Federation pick in baseball as well as being named Santa Ana's MVP in that sport.  Billy is considered one of the top all-around college baseball players in the nation."
