Brock comes to Georgetown after spending the last three seasons as an
assistant coach at the University of Toledo. Brock assisted in all aspects
of the program, but his main responsibility was working with the infielders.
He also helped coordinate the Rockets' diverse offering of baseball camps.
At Toledo, Brock helped lead the Rockets to the team's first appearance in
the Mid-American Tournament since 1999, and only their fourth trip since
1981. As the infield coach, the 2005, 2006 and 2007 teams ranked first,
second and third for assists in school history, with the 2006 team finishing
12th in the nation, averaging 1.15 double plays per game.
Brock also served as an assistant coach at Saint Mary's College in Moraga,
Calif. from 2001-2003. At Saint Mary's, Brock served as the infield and
hitting coach and also assisted with recruiting and scouting for the Gaels.
During the 2002 season, the Gaels tied the school record for wins in the
West Coast Conference (WCC) and turned 64 double plays on the season and had
the highest per game mark in the NCAA that season.
While at Saint Mary's, Brock coached three players - third baseman Mark
Teahen (supplemental 1st round, Oakland A's), outfielder Jason Waugh (11th
round, Toronto Blue Jays) and shortstop Brett Wayne (22nd round, Los Angeles
Dodgers) - who were selected in the 2002 Major League Baseball Draft. He
also worked with catcher Nick Conte, who was drafted in the 13th round by
the San Francisco Giants in 2003.
Prior to his coaching stint at Saint Mary's, Brock was an assistant coach
for the Danville Dans (Danville, Ill.) in 2001 and helped coach Danville's
championship summer team of the Central Illinois Collegiate League (CICL).
A native of Colorado, Brock played two years professionally in the Arizona
Diamondbacks' organization in 2001. He started his career at Class A South
Bend (Ind.) before moving to AA El Paso for one season.
Brock was a four-year letterwinner at Notre Dame from 1995-98 and graduated
with a Bachelor of Sciences in mathematics. He served as the team captain
during the 1997 and 1998 seasons. The 1997 Fighting Irish squad won the Big
East regular season championship. Brock started 238 games in the infield and
was the team's MVP as a senior. He was also named a first-team All-Big East
shortstop in 1998 and was named a GTE Academic All-District selection as
both a junior and as a senior.
Before his coaching stops at St. Mary's and Danville, Brock earned a
master's degree in physical education athletic administration at Ohio
University from 2000-01. While at Ohio, he spent one season working with the
Bobcats' outfielders and hitters as a graduate assistant coach.
