JUNE 18, 2004 "It gets my adrenaline rushing, and it livens me up," said Coit, when asked if a standout play in the field carries over to his performance at the plate. "Right now I'm just going up there with good intent, trying to get my timing down and trying to hit line drives and hard ground balls."
2005
Coit appeared in 41 games, making 35 starts ... hit .224 with one home run and
14 runs batted in … also scored 18 runs, had seven doubles and 19 walks, which
tied for fourth on the team … had 10 multiple-hit games, including a three-hit
effort in a win at Loyola Marymount on Mar. 15 … also posted five games with two
runs batted in … had two hits in all three games at New Mexico State (Mar.
18-19), hitting a home run, scoring three times and driving in a pair in game
two of a doubleheader on Mar. 19 … scored twice in the first contest on Mar. 19
with two runs batted in and two doubles … finished the series 6-for-14 (.429)
with six runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and three walks … also scored twice
against UC Riverside.
2004
Made 35 starts and played in 42 games as a true freshman … second on the team
with a .356 batting average and nine stolen bases … led squad with three triples
… season-best 4-for-5 day with three RBI and game-winning home run in 7-5
victory over UC Irvine (May 2) … season-high eight-game hitting streak (March
20-April 10) included five multi-hit games … had 17 multiple-hit games on the
season … scored four runs and was 3-for-4 with a two-run HR in 16-10 defeat of
Pepperdine (March 30) … finished the season with at least one run scored in the
final eight games and a run in 14 of the final 16 contests … named All-Big West
Honorable Mention

Two-sport star for the Eagles … earned three varsity letters in baseball and
football … named team captain junior and senior seasons … helped squad to
Grossmont South League title in 2002 … named to All-League and All-County First
Teams … graduated in 2003.
