CONRAD LEAVES HIS MARK - Second baseman Brooks Conrad left his mark in the record book — his 14 triples were season and career franchise records. He also left his mark on the field at C.O. Brown Stadium. He played a few steps into the outfield — behind where most second basemen play — and wore out a patch of grass there. Ryan Stegall — voted the league’s most exciting shortstop —left his mark on the left side of the infield. But the sidearm-slinging Stegall didn’t kill as much grass as Conrad, however. Conrad led the MWL in triples, and shared the lead with 94 runs scored. His 94 RBIs tied for third-best in the league. He had a team-best 40 multi-hit games, and a team-best 14-game hitting streak in April. He had a 24-game on-base streak from June 7 to July 6. He hit .287 for the season — .302 vs. RHP and .316 at home. He was at .301 on July 23 — the first and last time above .300 since April 20. His 14 homers were second-best on the team and his .477 slugging percentage tied for the team lead.  Battle Creek Yankees
