Fired 3.0 perfect innings in his second go-round with Gaels to earn his third save of the year (4/17)... 2006: Pitched in five games, starting four, all in the early season... Struck out 18 batters against seven walks in 23.0 innings... Went 1-0 with 4.70 ERA... Lone win was in brief relief outing vs. Santa Clara (2/7)... Had best appearance a week later vs. San Diego, allowing two hits and no earned runs in six innings (2/12)... Granted medical hardship season.

2005: Made 15 relief appearances... Finished 1-3 with 6.75 ERA... Longest outing was 3.2 innings of shutout ball at Cal Poly... Struck out three batters with no walks in that sting... Entered May with 3.50 season ERA.

CARDINAL NEWMAN HS '04: Earned first-team All-North Bay League and first-team All-Redwood Empire in both baseball and basketball in 2003-04... Compiled 9-0 record with 1.80, fanning 95 in 79 innings as a senior... Fired four shutouts, including a perfect game at the Adam Westcott Tournament... Team finished with a school-record 25-3 mark... Averaged 17 points, 7 rebounds per game in basketball as a senior.

PERSONAL: Born in Santa Rosa, Calif.... Economics major... Parents are Patrick & Margaret Fitzgerald, both of whom were collegiate athletes... Patrick played basketball at Hawaii-Hilo, Margaret played softball at Santa Rosa JC... Grandfather, John Fitzgerald, played for the Pirates and Cardinals organizations.
