5/4/8:
Now Pitching For York Revolution
"In
early April, Gassner, who started 26 games for the Rochester Red Wings last
season, signed on with the Camden Riversharks of the Atlantic League's
Liberty Division. Shortly after agreeing to play the 2008 season with
the Riversharks, Gassner packed his bags for the Pacific, signing on with a
team in Taiwan and prompting Camden to release him. The move overseas
didn't pan out for personal reasons, and Gassner returned to the states an
Atlantic League free agent."

Stellar in Big League Debut ""I was nervous," Gassner admitted. "In my game, I have to really concentrate and locate the ball. I don't throw hard enough to blow it by anybody. So I have to stay calm, slow and controlled and try to keep the ball down to let my defense do the rest."

Gassner's gem earns, win, promotion "Dave Gassner turned in a big-league performance against the Syracuse SkyChiefs on Saturday afternoon. Then, he actually became a big-leaguer. The left-hander was promoted to the Minnesota Twins one hour after helping the Rochester Red Wings edge Syracuse 2-1 in the jam-packed home opener at sunlit Frontier Field. "It couldn't happen to a nicer young man,'' Wings manager Phil Roof said. "He goes out and does his business. He has a game plan and executes that game plan. I'm tickled to death."
