Summer League/MLB: Drafted out of high school by the Detroit Tigers in the 9th round... played for the Alaska Goldpanners in the Alaska Summer League in 2002... batted .279, with the teams second-best on-base percentage (.415)... drove in 23 runs, third on the team and scored 23 runs, seventh on the team... third on the team with seven doubles over 165 at-bats... played in 51 of 53 games... team won the NBC World Series in Wichita... teammates with fellow Dirtbag Todd Jennings... played for the Mat-Su Miners in the Alaska Summer League in 2001... batted .222, but produced a .333 on-base percentage... had 26 hits in 117 at-bats, two doubles, two triples and a homer... scored 14 times and had 14 RBIs... fourth on the team in walks.

LBSU 2002: Batted .314 with 24 runs and 32 RBIs... also had 10 doubles and two homers... made 47 starts, 46 at first base... led team early on in RBIs... had 12 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games... hit safely in 10 of final 11 games... batted .347 with 12 runs and 12 RBIs during league play... went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI versus Arkansas on February 22... went 2-for-5 at Louisiana State on a cold March 3... went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBIs and a triple at UC Riverside on March 15... went 4-for-10 over final two games of Riverside series with two doubles... went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a double at Sacramento State on March 28, in the midst of a seven-game hit streak... went 6-for-13 at Sacramento State in late March... went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs versus San Diego on April 24... went 3-for-3 versus CS Fullerton on March 24 and 2-for-7 in 16 inning, the next day... went 6-for-14 in the second series with the Titans... went 3-for-3 to eliminate CSF in the NCAA Regionals in Palo Alto.
LBSU 2001: Named an honorable mention All-American by Collegiate Baseball... played 48 games, starting 29 at first base and designated hitter... batted .297 with 12 runs and 17 RBIs... had six doubles and 13 walks... hit .302 with three runs and 10 RBIs versus the Big West... went 3-for-3 with two runs in win versus USC on February 11... went 2-for-3 with an RBI versus Tennessee at the Kia Baseball Bash at CS Fullerton... went 2-for-4 with two RBIs versus Loyola Marymount on March 27... had two RBIs and two hits versus Sacramento State on April 8... went 2-for-3 with an RBI at Pacific on April 14... eight multi-hit games.
High School: Two-year letterwinner for Coach Spud ONeil at Lakewood High School... twice named to the Long Beach Press-Telegrams Dream Team... two-time first team all-Moore League... all-CIF as a senior... team advanced to the third round of the CIF playoffs and won the league championship... scholar-athlete.
