  • 5/28/5: Huskies shut out UCLA - "Reliever Matt Kasser faced the minimum over the final two innings to finish the shutout. Washington got its fifth run in the sixth when designated hitter Matt Lane belted a solo homer, his fourth of the year and first since returning from an injury that had him out of the batting order for nearly five weeks."
  • 5/21/5: Huskies must win six remaining games to qualify - "We're just going to play," added Tuesday's winning pitcher Matt Kasser. "We've got nothing to hold back, it's do or die."

2005 (Junior) - Spent the majority of the season as a starting pitcher, making 12 starts and three relief appearances ... beat USC with seven-inning outing April 4: seven innings, six hits, three runs, five walks, five strikeouts ... got the win March 20 at Cal Poly, allowing three runs on only two hits over six innings ... threw seven solid innings for no decision March 5 vs. UC Santa Barbara, allowing two runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out six ... left UCSB game with 5-2 lead ... got a win Feb. 21 at Santa Clara:, allowing a run on five hits over seven innings ... threw 2.2 no-hit innings of relief May 14 vs. Oregon State ... also pitched well out of the pen twice at UCLA in the season's final weekend, fanning three in two and one-third no-hit innings over two outings ... got the save in the May 28 win over the Bruins ... got the win vs. Lewis-Clark State, allowing only one run on four hits over seven innings, striking out a season-high seven ... went 5-0 with a 2.05 ERA playing for the Fairbanks (Alaska) Goldpanners during the summer ... helped the Panners to the Alaska League championship. 2004 (Sophomore) - Began the year in the bullpen, but moved into the starting rotation April 4 at California and held that role the last 10 weeks of the season ... had an outstanding starting performance at the NCAA Oxford Regional to close out his season, beating Western Kentucky, 4-1, in an elimination game ... in that game, allowed only one run on four hits and three walks while striking out five in seven and two-thirds innings ... no decision in his last two starts of the regular season, May 30 vs. UC Irvine (4.0 IP, 7 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 4 K) and May 23 vs. UCLA (7.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 Ks) ... got the win at USC May 15 in longest career outing to that point: 7.2 IP, 8 H, 4 R, 2 ER, 6 BB, 2 K ... no decision in the Husky loss May 8 vs. Stanford: 4.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 2Ks ... no decision in UW's 26-14 win at OSU May 1, allowing eight runs (four earned) on nine hits over four innings ... had a very good start Apr. 17 at Georgia Tech to get the win: 6.2 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 4 K ... no decision Apr. 10 vs. Washington State, allowing six runs on four hits over 2.2 innings ... won first career start Apr. 4 at California, throwing seven innings, allowing four runs on six hits, four walks and three strikeouts ... played summer ball for the Aloha (Ore.) Knights, helping them to the National Baseball Congress World Series championship ... named second-team all-league and won his lone start at the World Series ... during the regular season at Aloha, went 4-4 with a 2.14 ERA, allowing only 46 hits in 63 innings ... 2003 (Freshman) - The only true freshman pitcher to see any action all season ... made nine appearances, all in relief ... all nine runs allowed came in two outings while the other seven were shutout appearances ... 11 of the 13 hits he allowed also came over those same two outings, Feb. 21 vs. Gonzaga (six hits, three runs) and Mar. 30 at Stanford (five hits, six runs) ... in other seven outings, allowed only three hits and no runs over 10.0 innings, striking out 15 ... entered the postseason having fanned 10 of the last 18 batters he'd faced ... made one appearance at the NCAA Regional when he allowed two hits and no runs over 2.2 innings vs. Long Beach State on June 1 ... struck out four in 2.2 hitless relief innings May 9 at UCLA ... threw a scoreless inning Apr. 21 vs. Hawaii-Hilo (game 2) and then struck out the side in order in his one IP Apr. 22 vs. Hilo ... struck out two in one inning of relief Mar. 25 at Portland... got a win with a 0.2-inning relief appearance Mar. 12 at Oregon State... pitched for North Adams (Mass.) during the summer ... started six games and struck out 45 in 36.2 innings over the summer.

ISSAQUAH HIGH SCHOOL
Earned four letters as a pitcher and outfielder at Issaquah for coach Rob Reese ... captain as a junior and senior ... team went 78-25 over his four years, winning the KingCo title his freshman year, the district title three of four years and the state championship his sophomore season ... also finished second in the district his junior year, fourth in state as a freshman and seventh in state in his final season ... posted a 25-5 career record in high school, including a 9-3 mark in his sophomore state-championship season ... set the KingCo Conference record for career victories with 25 ... 7-1 as a junior and 8-1 as a senior ... threw nine complete games as a sophomore and eight as a senior ... a two-time All-Eastside pick and a three-time All-KingCo first-teamer ... team MVP as a junior and senior ... also ran cross country, earning three varsity letters in that sport.
