Jose Mota returns for his sixth season in the Spanish radio booth with Ivan Lara on 830 AM. Mota served as the third broadcaster during Angels telecasts on KCAL 9 for two seasons (2004-05). During September 2003, Mota served as the Angels’ television color analyst with Steve Physioc on KCAL-9 and Fox Sports Net. He also handles the color analyst duties for selected national broadcasts during Saturday’s Game of the Week on the FOX Network. During 2002, Mota hosted World Series specials for ESPN Radio. He also co-hosts the Angels’ hot stove program “Angels Clubhouse” during the off-season.

A bilingual talent, Mota joined the Angels in 2002 after working as a broadcaster for Major League Baseball Radio, baseball’s Internet radio venture. With MLB, Mota also served as an International production consultant for the NBC special and 2001 ALMA and Emmy Award-nominated “Baseball: The Latin Passion”. Jose was also the featured host in a Sammy Sosa documentary released by VisionQuest. During the 2001 season, Mota worked as a play-by-play announcer for DirectTV Latin America which provided weekly intercontinental Major League Baseball broadcast coverage to 26 Latin American countries.

From 1997 until his current appointment, Jose served as a baseball color analyst and play-by-play announcer for the FOX “Game of the Week” in Spanish, including MLB post-season play and “NFL Sunday” broadcasts. He has been a guest play-by-play announcer for several Los Angeles Dodgers Spanish broadcasts, sitting in on occasion for Hall of Fame broadcaster Jaime Jarrin.

A former Major League baseball player with the San Diego Padres (1991) and Kansas City Royals (1995), Mota was originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 1985. He was a two-time Collegiate All-American second baseman at Cal State Fullerton and owns a bachelors degree in Communications from CSF. He was the starting second baseman for the 1984 Titans’ who claimed the National Title. In 1999, Jose made his film debut in Kevin Costner’s Universal release “For Love of the Game” in which he portrayed Dominican shortstop “Jose Garcia”.

A native of Santo Domingo, DR, Mota is the son of longtime Dodger Manny Mota. He and his family make their home in Glendora, Calif.
