2006 SEASON

ASU Triple Play - "Fans can watch a video highlight of ASU's defensive gem in Saturday's 9-4 victory over Cal St. Northridge. The Sun Devils worked out of a jam in the eighth inning with a 4-6-5 triple play by Eric Sogard, Joe Persichina, and CJ Retherford. "

JULY 29, 2004 - "But more prevalent than disappointment among the Goldpanners, was this; a feeling that "we played with our all," said Persichina, right before he headed back onto the field to play catch with a young Goldpanner fan. "And that's all you can ask for."
JULY 27, 2004 - "And Persichina had the pleasure of hitting one of his triples off of his Arizona State teammate Pat Cassa. "That's a little rivalry in itself," said Persichina of the match-up. "It's a step above, it's at another level, and I kind of like that, because you know more about each other; he knows how you hit and you know the way he pitches, so you can make yourself more prepared and can be more focused. It's a little rivalry in itself, teammate against teammate, and you want to win that battle."
JULY 26, 2004 - "There may not be any reason," said Persichina, following the Panners 8-7 win over the league-leading Peninsula Oilers. "But it could be the crowd backing us up. We've got some good hecklers. You've got to give credit to the people in the stands. They want to win as much as we do."
JULY 8, 2004 - "It's extremely frustrating when you're not hitting the ball," said Persichina. "You've got to buckle down and be tough, and realize, 'You're good and you're here for a reason. You're a ballplayer.' It feels good to get a hit and it feels great to help the team."
JUNE 24, 2004 vs. AIA - "I was just staying warm and taking a couple of practice swings," said Persichina, on how he passed the timeout. "The crowd was going crazy, but I just try to stay calm and keep my composure when I get in the box, no matter what the situation is."
JUNE 21, 2004 - "The Oilers committed eight errors in the game and appeared to have more trouble than the Panners adjusting to the changing light on the field as the sun set slowly behind the first base bleachers. "It was really in my eyes at first," said Goldpanners first baseman Joe Persichina, finished the night 2-4 at the plate with two runs scored. "I had to get some sunglasses, but after the third it wasn't too bad." After the game was over, standing in the twilight in the stadium, Persichina said that he still wasn't ready to call it a day, even though it was 1:30 A.M. "It's cool playing in this atmosphere," said Persichina. "It gives you energy. I'm ready to go hang out and do something else. I'm not ready for bedtime yet."
