Dan Plesac - Player Profile
1981 Goldpanner Yearbook

A 6-5 210-pound lefthanded pitcher from North Carolina State University.  The freshman moved right into the Wolfpack starting rotation this spring and he responded with a 6-3 record in 10 starts (a team high) while completing five games.  His earned run average was a bit lofty at 4.56, but it was a "true" ERA.  That is to say, it wasn't a lower ERA deflated by lots of unearned runs.  Plesac did, however, only walk 27 batters in 71 innings.  Earned high school all-america honors at Crown Point High in Indiana, his hometown.  He earned all-state honors in his junior and senior seasons, and was a four-year letter winner in baseball and basketball.  Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinal organization last summer, Plesac is a business major.
