1976 NBC NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
Fairbanks, Alaska, appearing in the championship game for the sixth year in a row, captured its fourth championship in five years with a 2-0 victory over rival Anchorage, Alaska. Fairbanks right-hander Greg Harris was outstanding, finishing with a two-hitter. He was named the tourney's Most Valuable Player after winning four tourney games against no defeats. Harris struck out four in the championship game. The win was only Fairbanks' sixth of the year verses Anchorage against 15 defeats. Fairbanks second baseman Jim Armstrong and first baseman Chick Valley drove in 10th inning runs for the Goldpanners. Dennis Sherow and Chris Bando managed the only hits for Anchorage, both singles.
