AMERICAN LEGION NIGHT

The history of the American Legion and the history of the city of Fairbanks are closely linked.  In the days following the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, Fairbanksans joined the American Legion in amazing numbers.  Uncertain as to the attack plans of the Japanese, local residents feverishly prepared their defenses against a seemingly imminent raid.

Every year since that time, Fairbanks has recognized the American Legion for its historical significance and contemporary relevance.  The Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks are honored to spend an evening recognizing the organization.

The opponent that evening will be the All-Star team of the Fairbanks American Legion baseball league.  This league is sponsored heavily by Alaska Post 57 and Post 11.

We encourage Fairbanksans to attend this promotion and join the Goldpanners as we honor the heroic heritage of this organization.
