7/20/8: PannerVision: Brendan Ryan - 2002 Goldpanners (From Brendan Ryan Interview by the G-Man on July 12th: "I went to Lewis-Clark St. (Lewiston, ID) and I won an NAIA National Championship there and that was great and I’m not taking anything away from that, but it just seemed like with the level of competition up there that summer, it was pretty special. It’s probably up there at the top. I’d sure like to win a World Series up here (MLB) but that was definitely one of my best memories."
10/25: Good to be a Goldpanner - Don Dennis - General Relativity "Zak was welcomed back to work in the team's Pannervision operation (due to his fine personality) but with a new field manager, Ed Cheff, the amount of playing time was to be determined. The rest is history."
9/1: A League Of Their Own - Don Dennis "..just a year ago at the fall meeting the assembled general managers voted to change tie-breaking rules to make the head-to-head series the means of determining any advantage. This rule alone should have prevented the creation of a new "post-season" game to create a final standing as the Goldpanners had a comfortable 5-2 season edge on the Pilots.." - General Relativity
8/26: Many Happy Returns - Don Dennis "A side observation on Blake (Gill). He was cut out to be a Goldpanner. I have witnessed many pickups over the years and never before have I seen a guy become integrated the way it happened for Gill. By the third game of the tournament it seemed as though he had been with the team throughout the season. A tribute to Blake and the other Goldpanner players who welcomed him aboard."

8/14: Panners Strike Pure Gold - ADN "To be honest with you," Anchorage coach Bob Miller replied when asked what happened, "I'm at a loss for words right now." "From the day we got here, we thought we might be seeing (the Pilots) tonight," Cheff said. "That's a really good club we had to beat twice here. Doing it the way we did it certainly makes it more special."

Memories of mom flood back for MVP Gill "Gill went 4 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Next thing he knew, he was holding the MVP trophy. "I never thought this would have happened, especially a few days ago," Gill said. "It's incredible. It's the best feeling I've ever had on a baseball field in my life."
8/14: Panners hit the Mother Lode - Bob Eley "The Panners have played in a record 12 championship games with four of those coming against the Glacier Pilots. The Panners now hold a 3-1 advantage in those games. The Pilots have played in 10 championship games."
8/14: Fairbanks Return Brightens NBC - Bob Lutz "Dennis, probably the most successful figure in NBC history, didn't join his team for a jubilant postgame celebration on the field. Instead, he remained stationed behind a camera above the bleachers behind third base, helping with the Fairbanks Web cast. Fairbanks has now played in 23 World Series, and won 26 percent of them. The Panners also have six second-place finishes, so they have played in the championship game in 52 percent of the tournaments they have entered."
8/14: Fairbanks wins record sixth title "The two teams had met three times before in the championship game, with Fairbanks now holding a 3-1 advantage."
8/11: Its Pilots vs. Panners for the Title "This afternoon, they will take the field against the Goldpanners, who shared the Alaska Baseball League title with them. One game will not only decide this year's national champion, but since the organizations are tied with a record five NBC titles each, it will decide who is the most successful team in NBC history.
8/11: Gill Golden for Fairbanks "I wasn't contributing like I felt I should have. I was really kind of taking it hard on myself," said Gill, a sophomore at Louisiana State. "It feels good to know that they can count on me when I'm up at the plate now.
8/10: Pilots Stumble Against Panners "Too crushed to even come out of the dugout for a postgame handshake with the Goldpanners, the Anchorage players and coaches waited for about 15 minutes as the All-Americans and other awards were announced."
8/9: Pilots now just two wins from retaining title "And it doesn't mean the Pilots would feel bad if they happened to be the team to send the Goldpanners packing. "Well," Zech said, "we'd talk a little garbage, I'm sure."

7/22: Panners cycle into first "This is the first time I've ever hit for the cycle," said Montgomery. "Usually stuff like that only happens for me in wiffle ball games. But to do it for the first time as a Panner feels great, it's exciting. The win raises the Panners' consecutive win streak at Growden to (7) and, more importantly, moves them into first place in the Alaska Baseball League. They stand at 20-11 in the ABL, 25-14 overall."
7/20: Panners sweep Miners Richard Larson "The Alaska Goldpanners looked like a fine-tuned machine Friday at Growden Memorial Park, completing a four-game sweep of the Mat-Su Miners with a 4-1 victory. Chad Corona reached far over the fence to snare the ball, tumbling headfirst over the fence. Corona grabbed the chainlink with his bare hand and flipped himself over, keeping a hold of the ball as he landed on his feet after falling 6 feet to the cement floor of the dugout. "

6/22: Midnight sun doesn't fail to make a showing - Richard Larson "Phil Blackwell, a pitcher on the Panners 1962-65 teams, threw out the first pitch, exactly 40 years after being the starting pitcher in the 1962 Midnight Sun Game... these guys have beautiful uniforms, while we had nice baggy ones. But the game was the same. We had 3 or 4,000 fans back then, too, and they were every bit as raucous as they are right now," Blackwell said as a roar came from the group of 80 thundering students from Marshall, Mich., packed into the far left-field stands.
6/22: A Boyhood Dream Comes True for Sean Timmons "the Alaska Goldpanners defeated the Ukiah Victory Dons 2-1 on a game-winning RBI single from Chad Corona in the bottom of the ninth inning. "I'm going to Alaskaland, baby!" joked Corona with his teammates during a jubilant celebration in front of the Panners' bench after Ryan Haag crossed the dish for the winning run.
