2004 MICHIGAN MONARCHS

 

 

The Michigan Monarchs Collegiate Baseball Program operated originally as the Adray Collegiate program in 1981. It operated as one of the franchises in the Adray Collegiate program. The Adray Collegiate program was discontinued in 1997 and the Michigan Monarchs continued on in various Midwestern area collegiate and semi-pro Leagues. Here are some of their recent accomplishments:

  • Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League Champions 1999
  • Great Lakes Western Division Champions 2000
  • Finished 3rd in Nation at NBC World Series 2000
  • Sportsmanship Award (NBC World Series) 2000
  • 11th Place Finish (NBC World Series) 2001
  • Best Dressed Team Award (NBC World Series) 2001
  • The Monarchs draw players from the following College Programs:

    The Monarchs are based in Southeastern Michigan and play home games in Ann Arbor & the Southern Downriver areas. They play a travel schedule against some of the best Summer Collegiate teams in Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois & Wisconsin. The season begins in early June and ends in early August. The Monarchs have had over 10 players taken in the Major League draft and had two former players drafted in the 1st round of the 2004 Draft.

    The Monarchs are traveling to Alaska this June to play a 12 game tour of the Alaska Baseball League, one of the most prestigious leagues in the United States.

    MICHIGAN MONARCHS 2004 ALASKA TRIP TRAVEL ITINERARY

     10 June Thursday: Arrive in Anchorage at 11:55AM (Alaska time) on Northwest Airlines flight 841. You will be picked up at the airport by the Anchorage Bucs and transported to the University of Alaska, Anchorage to check in at the dorms for housing hosted by the Anchorage Bucs. You will be transported by the Bucs to the ballpark for the game scheduled to start at 7PM. B.P. and pick up time for the trip to the ballpark to be coordinated with the Bucs. After the game the Bucs will transport you back to the dorms.

    11 June Friday: Transportation for this date must be coordinated with the Bucs. Game time is 7PM against the Glacier Pilots. Check with the Pilots for B.P. time. After the game you will be transported back to the dorms by the Anchorage Bucs.

    12 June Saturday: Check out of the dorms and picked up by bus for transport to Fairbanks. Coordinate bus pickup time with the Bucs. Travel time to Fairbanks is 6 to 7 hours depending on stops. Upon arrival in Fairbanks you will check in at the Olympic Village complex located at the ballpark. Game time is 7PM against the Goldpanners. Coordinate B.P. time with the Goldpanners. Eating places are within walking distance from the ballpark.

    13 June Sunday: Game time 7PM against the Goldpanners, coordinate B.P. time with them. After the game you will again overnight in the Village. The Bus will be available for team activities while in Fairbanks. Coordinate any activities with the bus driver.

    14 June Monday: Check out of the Village and load the bus for the trip to Anchorage. Coordinate departure time with the bus driver. Upon arrival in Anchorage you will again check in at the UAA dorms hosted by the Bucs. You will be transported to the ballpark by the Bucs. Coordinate B.P. and bus pick up time with the Bucs. Game time is 7PM against the Glacier Pilots. After the game you will be returned to the dorms by the Bucs bus.

    15 June Tuesday:  Game time is 7PM against the Bucs. Coordinate B.P. and bus times with the Bucs. After the game the Bucs bus will return you to the dorms.

    16 June Wednesday: Observe checkout time at the dorms. You will be picked up by the Oilers for transport to Kenai. Travel time is about 3 hours depending on stops. Upon arrival in Kenai you will check in at the “Bingo Hilton”. While in Kenai coordinate B.P., bus times and team eating trips with the Oilers. Game times are 7PM and you will be returned to the Hilton after the games by the Oilers.

    17 June Thursday: Game time is 7PM against the Oilers.

    18 June Friday: Game time is 7PM against the Oilers.

    19 June Saturday: Morning check out of the Hilton and bus to the Anchorage ballpark. Coordinate times with the Oilers. Upon arrival at the Anchorage ballpark you will transfer to the Mat-Su Miners vans for the trip to Palmer. Travel time is about an hour. Coordinate ballpark pickup time with the Miners. Upon arrival in Palmer you will check in at the Gold Miner Hotel. B.P. and travel time to the ballpark to be coordinated with the Miners. Game time is 7PM against the Miners. Transportation back to the hotel after the game will be provided by the Miners.

    20 June Sunday: Observe checkout time at the hotel. You will be transported to Anchorage in the Mat-Su Miners vans. Coordinate checkout and Van time with the Miners. Upon arrival in Anchorage you will again check into the UAA dorms hosted by the Bucs. Game time against the Bucs is 7PM. Coordinate pickup and B.P. time with the Bucs. After the game the Bucs will return you to the dorms.

    21 June Monday: Game time is 1PM against the Bucs. Coordinate pickup and B.P. time with the Bucs. This game will be 7 innings due to the Bucs travel commitments to Palmer for a league game on this date.  After the game coordinate return to the dorms with the Bucs.

    22 June Tuesday: Observe check out time at the dorms. Coordinate pick up time at the dorms and transport to the airport with the Bucs. You will depart Anchorage at 12:55PM (noonish) on Northwest Airlines flight 848.
