Glacier Pilots' seven-run rally downs the Goldpanners

The Anchorage Glacier Pilots rallied from five runs down with a big seven-run eighth-inning rally to beat the Fairbanks Goldpanners 9-7 Wednesday night at Mulcahy Stadium.

That cooled off the Goldpanners, who had won seven of their previous eight games, and allowed the Pilots to tie them in the standings.

Pilot shortstop Lucas Waters clubbed a two-run homer to provide the winning margin.

Pilot first baseman Ben Lasater's eighth-inning double drove in three and closed the gap to 7-5. Travis Musolf's single tied the game before Waters' shot with two outs.

The Goldpanners had five-run seventh inning to seize what appeared to be a commanding 6-2 advantage. After Pilot starting pitcher Tyler Rhoden held the Goldpanners to one run during his six innings, Joey Williamson came on in the seventh and failed to record an out, allowing five runs and hitting two batters.

Closer Casey Weathers worked a perfect ninth for the Pilots, striking out two and earning the save.
