Kevin Roundtree (10R) USC (c) Goldpanners (R10), 5 hits, 2 2B, 2 R,
2 Rbi in series vs ASU
Jake Stewart (10R) paced Stanford with four RBI, including three on a home run during the
team's six-run third.
Reliever Martin Medina
(09-10R)
tossed three scoreless innings, striking out six of the eight batters he
faced, slamming the door as the Cal State Bakersfield / Martin
Medina had a pair of hits, including his team-leading 10th home run
.
WEEK 8
Mike Tauchman (10R ; Palatine, Ill./William Fremd H.S.)
49th State Hardball "We're issuing our first-ever Perfect-a-Mundo
award, and this week it goes to Goldpanners recruit Mike Tauchman
of Bradley. Tauchman went four-for-four at the plate for the Braves in
their 7-0 shutout of Missouri on Friday. He picked up two runs and an
RBI on the day, and his hits included a double and his second homer of
the year. Tauchman's bat has been heating up as of late, and with his
average sitting a few ticks below the .300 mark he might just break into
the three-hundreds before the season ends."
"Jarod Berggren (09-10R) is on a 13-game
hitting streak for Northern Colorado. He's also put together another
nice little streak on Tuesday when he drilled a first-pitch two-run bomb
in the first inning. That was his third consecutive game in which he had
knocked one out of the park. "
Zak Edgington (10R) -- Thursday: 7.1 IP 5H 2ER
2BB 11K. No walks until the eighth inning. Gave up both runs and all
five hits in the first three innings, then got into a groove and sat
down 13 straight. 24 strikeouts in the past two starts.
Thomas Hoenshell (09-10R) -- Saturday: 7.1IP
3ER 1BB 9K. Picked up the win. Completed the sweep of Fullerton. The
sophomore is now 8-1 with a 2.77 ERA on the year, leading Cypress in
Wins (8), IP (68.1), GS (10) K (54)
Bradley freshman Mike
Tauchman also blasted his first collegiate homer, a solo shot to
start the seventh. It gave the Braves a 10-9 lead
"Mike McCarthy
(09-10R) made history by throwing Cal State Bakersfield's first-ever
complete game shutout. Over the course of the nine-inning battle he gave
up eight hits and three walks but didn't let any of those runners score.
"
"JT Chargois (10R)
continued his trend of toying with opposing batters, letting them on
base only to shut them down. In a 1.1 inning performance for Rice on
Tuesday he gave up two hits and a walk, but allowed none of them to
cross"
WEEK 6
"In game two, Darian
Sandford (10R) led the Pirates at the plate, driving in two and
scoring twice in a 4-for-4 outing,"
Chase McDowell
(10R) started 11 of first 13 games but now spotty. Hitting .225 with
fair across the chart numbers.
Sophomore Martin
Medina (09-10R) Homered in both games for CSUB vs. Washington State
No. 19 Stanford 5, USC 4: Zach Jones delivered a
bases-loaded, two-out single in the bottom of the ninth as the Cardinal
(11-6, 1-1 Pac-10) edged the visiting Trojans (12-11, 1-1 Pac-10).
Brandon Garcia (1-2) allowed a two-out single to Jake Stewart
(10R), followed by a walk to Colin Walsh to load the bases. Jones then
delivered a 1-0 pitch through the right side of the infield.
Mike Tauchman was
2-for-4 from the dish with a run scored and two RBI for Bradley vs.
Wichita State
"This week's gold star
goes to Panners signee Thomas Hoenshell out of Cypress College.
Over an even eight frames, Hoenshell gave up a mere 4 hits and allowed
only two runners to cross the plate. That was good enough to pick up the
big W for the day."
"Southwest Baptist's
Nigel Morton was 4-for-7 good -- that's 2/2 (plus a walk) in game 1
and 2/5 in the second matchup. Morton picked up an RBI in the nightcap
as well."
"Panners
recruit JT Chargois (Rice Freshman) has let 11 hitters reach base
in 7+ IP, but so far only one of them has come across the plate.."
"In D1 ball, another
Goldpanner had a good two-game day: Stanford's Jake Stewart. In
the first game of Saturday's DH against USC, Stewart was 3-for-4 with a
run. In the nightcap, he scraped out a pair of hits on three at-bats,
also with a run. Stewart's bat has been a little quiet so far this
season, so it's good to see him starting to heat up."
"Darian Sandford
(10R) is a name that keeps popping up, and for good reason. The Park
University outfielder swiped five more bases in Friday's
doubleheader against Harris-Stowe in NAIA play. That brings the
Park-career-leader's total to 18 swipes in just 12 games. The grounds
crew in Fairbanks may need to look into patching the field's turf
because we might see a hole or two burned into it before the summer's
over.
WEEK 5
Mike McCarthy (09-10R) 7.2 IP; 2
walks, 8 strikeouts
Kevin Roundtree (10R) 5-for-12 vs.
Pacific over the weekend
Darian
Sandford
(10R) has reached an
impressive milestone in his career. The lightning-fast outfielder has
stolen his way into Park University history, becoming the school's #1
career steals man. I predict that this will be just one small milestone
in the course of Sandford's career, but congratulations are definitely
in order.
WEEK 4
OBU's Kyle Brule
(08-09) went the distance, allowing six runs on 11 hits, striking out 13
and walking two. Up next for OBU is a weekend series at Texas College.
After an RBI groundout by
freshman outfielder Mike Tauchman (10R) (Palatine, Ill./ William
Fremd H.S.), the Braves took two-run lead, 6-4
Martin Medina
(09-10R) went from glory to frustration to even more glory Friday for
Cal State Bakersfield's baseball team
Sac State's Jesse
Darrah (09-10R) pitched a complete game, allowing one run on seven
hits, in a 2-1 victory over No. 16 UC Irvine in the first game of a
doubleheader
Kevin Roundtree
went 3-for-3 and threw out two baserunners in Friday's 8-2 loss at
Hawai'i

Jake Stewart (10R)
tripled and hit a two-run homer in the third to give Stanford
(5-3) an early 2-1 lead.
Reliever Ryan Cabral
(10R) came in for Triggs, but he allowed a single to Ryan Honeycutt
to load the bases. Cabral then walked Chris Juarez to force in the tying
run.
Sophomore
D.J.
Crumlich (10R), who had been sharing time at short with Reyes, was
hit in the head with a ball at practice Wednesday and is out
indefinitely with a concussion, Gillespie said.
Darian Sandford
(10R) had five RBIs and Michael Onwumere went 4-for-4, adding a pair of
doubles, as Park University took two from Texas College .

followed with a double to left center. Chung scored on an errant
relay by Gonzaga shortstop Ernesto Ortiz, giving the Hornets a 3-2
lead.

game.

WEEK 1
Jake Stewart
(10R) 49th State Hardball:
2010 Player Profile: Jake Stewart There has been a lot of
things said about 2010 Goldpanners OF Jake Stewart. I'll give you a
big one to chew on: "best high school player to ever come out of the
State of Colorado".
2/21/10: Sacramento State starter Brandon Sandoval earned the win
against UNLV, allowing three runs on three hits in five innings. //
Shortstop Derrick Chung had three hits – including a
home run – and three RBIs for the Hornets
