Jason Giambi wins American League MVP
Jason Giambi ('90), of the 1990 Goldpanners, was honored as the 2000 season Most Valuable Player for the American League. Giambi was the 1990 Alaska Goldpanners' leading hitter, ending the season with a sharp .377 batting average.
Giving much credit to fellow Alaska Leaguer Mark McGwire (AGP'82), Giambi displayed great maturity in his bold charge to lead the Oakland A's to the playoffs this season.
The Alaska Goldpanners are pleased to present to the baseball-loving community Jason's all-time first card, available in the 1990 Goldpanners team set. Jason is a mere 19 years old in the picture.
