Played for the Hays (Kan.) Larks of the Jayhawk League last summer. The left-hander compiled a 4-7 record and a 2.15 ERA in 11 starts while the Larks finished fourth in the 10-team Jayhawk League.
College: Was used solely as a starter at Purdue University as a junior this spring. Appeared in 13 games with a 6-3 record and a 3.83 ERA. Struck out 51 while walking 25 in 84.2 innings as he helped the Boilermakers to a 35-23 record and a third place finish in the Big Ten Conference. Was selected to the All-Big Ten Tournament Team after throwing complete game four-hitter against Big Ten regular-season champion Minnesota. As a sophomore, had third lowest ERA on the squad, 5.47. Posted 4-5 record in 16 appearances. Finished second on the team with strikeouts with 64, and first on the team with eight runners picked off. In three seasons at Purdue he has appeared in 45 games, starting 29, with an 11-14 record and a 4.94 ERA. Has struck out 147 while walking 77 in 206 innings.
High School: Went 8-0 with a 0.35 ERA as a senior at Hortonville High School. Was named conference Player-of-the-Year as a junior.
