Mission
The Alaska Goldpanners were founded in 1960 by former Fairbanks mayor and Alaska lieutenant governor H.A. “Red” Boucher. The goal of the Goldpanners remains the promotion of competitive athletics and to foster, promote and organize recreational activities in the Fairbanks area. In its first year of competition, the Goldpanners adopted the Midnight Sun Game, a Fairbanks tradition dating back to 1906 of playing baseball at midnight without the use of artificial lights. 2026 marks our 66th season of operation and the 121st Midnight Sun Game.
